Really sad to hear that - I've felt closer and more fond of the lads than any other band I've loved over the years. I rode to work on the bus today in the blazing sunshine listening to In It For The Money, by the time the chorus of Late In The Day kicked in I was a bit trembly-lipped :( All the best for the future lads, infinite thanks for the heartwarming music, hooks, beautiful instrumental breaks, experimental oddities, humour and good times :)

Im absoulutely gutted about the end of Supergrass. I realy took notice of there music, when 'Life on other planets' came out and i could not get enough.
I've been to see them twice and it still gives me goosebumps thinking about them gigs!!
They were in my opinion one of the best bands that has come out of this country, Hope everything goes well for there new ventures.
Thanks for the music, you stay classy!!!

Supergrass are by some distances the most underrated Britsh band of their generation. Thankyou lads for 6 superb albums and some fantastic memories. In It For The Money Is one of my favourite albums ever. I've never had the privelage of seeing them live before so Manchester in June will be a very special but very sad night!

Added by jehovah Saturday April 17th 2010 15:22

thank fuck for that
dickhead, smack head, pot head and the other one - a pedestrian band who should have called it a day years ago

Thanks for 17 years of great music! I love all the albums. What about the forthcoming album The Drones? Will you still make it available for the true fans?

Added by Juan Saturday April 17th 2010 23:42

Its a really sad new.
Thank you for your songs, I have spent great moments listening your music. You were really kind with me when I met you before a concert in 2004 here in Vigo (Spain).
I hope The Drones will be released.

Thanks a lot for sharing your talent and humor with us.

All I can say is thanks for the memories - you have given some awesome music to the public over what is a generations worth of listening. Seen you in Brum and Bristol - nights that rocked and will NEVER be forgotten. Best of luck with all your futures. Craig in Tamworth. XX

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I will never see Supergrass live

Added by Mary Sunday April 18th 2010 07:42

That is sad news. I've been a big fan since 97... back when I was a painfully awkward teen living in the midwest. I learned to play the guitar by figuring out how to play all of Supergrass' songs... which obviously transformed me into a badass. They continue to be my favorite band to listen to on the train to work... and while I work. I just need to say THANK YOU for the music. It really did shape my life and inspire me. I can't wait to hear more as new projects commence!

Added by jason Sunday April 18th 2010 10:00

Supergrass are a truly underrated band - I've never understood why the music press didn't appreciate you more - in my eyes you made 6 great albums, miles better than the majority of the bands around at the time. Maybe 'Alright' was just that song that people remember you for - it's a shame when you wrote a library of songs that were much better! I will miss you dearly and the album that was never finished!

Added by Sarah Sunday April 18th 2010 12:12

Like others really sad news, but the albums and the gigs are some of the best moments of the last 15 years, been to lots of your gigs over the years and my children brought up on the music on lots of hols to cornwall (long drives). will see my last gig in Manchester , can't wait . Good luck for the future X Sarah North Yorkshire

*sob* Farewell to the mighty, mighty Supergrass. I was so gutted when I first heard the news. You've been a steady constant in my listening habits for 16 years - a constant that's gotten better and better. I'm aghast that the majority of so-called music lovers didn't appreciate you more - only serves to make your catalogue all the more special in my eyes/ears!

The British music scene simply won't be the same without you guys doing that brilliant thing you do. I certainly hope to hear the fruits of what would have become 'The Drones' - I do hope these see the light of day at some point. You will be deeply and sorely missed, but you certainly won't be forgotten. You've graced us with a terrific legacy of crackin' tunes, and I am eternally grateful for that. All the best with future endeavours, guys!!

This is some bad news indeed. I've been a huge fan for ten years. EVERY time they played in Los Angeles, I was there. They are such a great sound, such a great presence, such a fucking awesome time every time I had the privilege to see them. This last time the Hot Rats came to L.A., I went to see them and I didn't muster up the balls to greet them and thank Gaz for being amazing. Now it has come to truth that I never fucking will. Adding injury to injury. Oh well. If any one of you ever reads this: Thank you for having brightened up the past 10 years of my life.

It all began for me when, at age 14, I bought a copy of I Should Coco with my pocket money. From that moment on you were the soundtrack to my life. Your music was second to none, I loved every album, and every gig, and I am truly saddened to know that the band I have followed for over half my life are no more. But you gotta do what you gotta do, and I wish you all the very best of luck in the future wherever the road takes you!! I'll see you in Paris to bid you a final farewell and won't ever forget all the memories I have of my favourite band. Thank you Supergrass.

I've just found out, and it has broken my heart. I love Supergrass. I was really hoping the guys would be together for the summer, when I'm actually in the UK to see them - not far far away - and that they'd turn up at a festival or something that I could go see them again. Sure you don't want to reconsider? I'll be at Bestival if you change your minds...

It's great to be able to see you off, though. Thanks for putting the dates in. I wish the last show was here in the UK.

Didn't realise this was their last tour but when tickets arrived today, the reference to "farewell tour" made me feel both sad & nostalgic. Feel like I should finally be saying goodbye to my youth but my hubby & I will be at the Barras in June, six month bump and all. Thanks for some great times, great tunes & fun (anyone remember T in the Park 95, the tent was like a sauna but definitely one of the best gigs ever). Love & luck for the future. C

I echo the comments that Supergrass are one of the most underrated bands of the nineties and noughties.

Their raw sound and energy was infectious when they exploded onto the scene. I Should Coco is a tremendous debut album by any standard. The band grew, developed and matured over time (unlike some of their peers, cough cough Oasis) and the songwriting blossomed. The culmination of talent and musical growth led to the production of Road to Rouen, which is epic and beautiful with shades of John Lennon post Beatles.

Thank for the albums and fantastic live performances lads. See you at the reunion gig.

You were the most varied and fantastic band ever. I have rated all your albums amongst my favourite of all time. Also the three times I have seen you live, I have taken people and they were also converted. I have learnt to play most of your songs on guitar. Loved it all. Very disappointed to hear the break up. I hope I see some other stuff the individuals come up with.

Wow... I'm saddened to hear that my favourite band is no more. They have been rocking my world and blowing my mind with awesome funk lines and fantastic groves since ‘94. The sound they created was unique, intelligent, and will never be duplicated. I just wish they could have made it to Toronto one more time; but I'm glad I got to see them live when they did make it here, as their live show was full of so much energy. It was a real treat. Thanks guys.

Why? After a few years of transition Diamond has been a success,a great rock and roll album and I hoped that it was the beginning of a new period of inspiration. I saw the band live in Bologna and it was one of my favourite live af all the times. The new songs worked very well and the band was in great shape and they seemed happy...

End of an era; I thought I would be down the front of gigs forever, then I went further back, then I attended less frequently....now it feels like one gig a year. Well tonight Mathew it's SUPERGRASS! and by no means for the first time!! Thanks for the memories boys, from the early mosh days to last minute cancelled gigs at the Barras and to ten years ago, when I spotted Gaz Coombs in Brighton and walked along the other side of the street from him...stalking him.....but like David Attenburgh, I just observed the little fella (a spot of quiet worship) and then watched as he disappeared into the night! Happy, Happy days and great memories.

That happy song which everyone knows and by just hearing the name it's impossible not to smile:)....Alright! It was always in my mind since I was like 4 or 5 years old, at that time didn't know who sang though I kept it in my mind up to 2008 when I searched the artist....since then SUPERGRASS! is my favorite band in the whole world; that's why I'm writing until now, because this announcement really ripped out my heart I feel something in my life is incomplete...and maybe I'm overreacting but I thought I'd end up my teenage years listening to more supergrass cd's -i'm 17 now but hey i'm still young xD- My last day at school it was the same as your last concert, even at school I cried more for your split-up than for my friends. So all I have to say is I send you all my blessings form Mexico, I would've loved to see you here but well I guess that is impossible, I'm so thankful for all the happiness you brought me, and all the songs that'll be for the rest of my life!! Whatever you'll do from now on, I wish you the best!!
